Currently Available: Small-Town Charm

The property you see for sale below is a Homeworks listing with the kind of appeal and serenity you can only find outside the boundaries of big-city life. Seated at the southern tip of Utah Lake, Genola is a small farming community in the Goshen Valley (just 20 min. from Provo) with a population of less than 2,000. And we can assure you that it’s every bit as quaint as it sounds.

Homeworks agent Zach Hansen is from the area and knows well the value of living in a small town: “It’s idyllic and peaceful. Riley’s U Pick is the closest thing you’ll find to a grocery store—it's an orchard where you choose your own produce. How charming is that?!” He paid a visit to his clients to chat with them about the benefits of the quiet life, and what they’ll miss most about this perfectly placed, modern home in “the country”...

"Life is much slower around here. There aren’t a lot of people, and there isn’t much traffic. It gives you time to slow down and enjoy. To take in life outside the busy city."

What’s been your favorite thing about living here?

I love the neighbors, the community…that everyone is so welcoming and inviting. With just 15 minutes, you can be back in town, so you actually get the full experience of both. I also love that when we were building our house the neighbors stopped to ask if they could help—there’s always someone offering support. It's a farm community, and what comes along with that is helping others, but also allowing for some space...it's why we have acres between us!

Is there any detail or info that future owners of the home can't see in photos? Anything that might be helpful for them to know about this home/area?

It's so quiet…you can’t see that in pictures. You always feel very safe in this neighborhood. Everyone watches out for each other, but we also leave each other alone. It's the perfect balance.

But our house is the main event. The layout is different than most expect. We built all the rooms on one side of the home so that you don’t have to walk through the main living spaces to get to the rooms. You can go straight from the garage into a mudroom, then down the hall right to your room. It creates more privacy and gives the ability to host without anyone seeing the private spaces.

What do mornings or evenings typically look like in a home with this much surrounding land? Any routines or habits that take advantage of views or light?

Oh that will be the thing that I miss the most. The mornings are so beautiful. Because we’re in a valley, it’s always the perfect temperature in the morning for a walk or hike right outside the front door. The night sky is also absolutely breathtaking. You see all the stars…there’s not a better sunset than Genola, Utah.
